Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary: £23,638 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: November 2026

About the Role
We're looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join our dedicated team and help students overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
This is far more than a support role. It's an opportunity to become a trusted mentor, advocate, and positive role model for young people who may need extra guidance, encouragement, and stability in their lives.

What you will be doing
- Providing 1:1 mentoring and small-group support to help students succeed.
- Supporting students' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement with learning.
- Acting as a trusted adult and positive role model throughout the school day.
- Building strong partnerships with families, offering guidance and support where needed.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, senior leaders, and external professionals to meet students' needs.
- Delivering targeted interventions and contributing to individual support plans.
- Monitoring progress and implementing strategies that support positive outcomes.
- Promoting safeguarding and helping to create a safe, nurturing environment where students can flourish.
About You
- Holds GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
- Passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential.
- Builds positive, trusting relationships quickly.
- Remains calm, patient, and resilient when faced with challenges.
- Has experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
- Is a strong communicator who can work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Can motivate, encourage, and inspire young people.
About Us
Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Opened in September 2024, the school is located in the beautiful market town of Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. We provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every young person is understood, valued and encouraged to thrive.
Our experienced team creates a calm, structured environment where students build confidence, resilience and achieve positive outcomes through personalised learning, high expectations and strong relationships.
Our curriculum develops the knowledge, emotional resilience, social communication and life skills students need to succeed in education, their communities and beyond, helping every young person become a confident learner, responsible citizen and prepared for their future.
At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
