Job Title: Design Technology Teacher
Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Design Technology Teacher who can inspire students through practical learning, helping them develop confidence, resilience and skills that will support them both in school and beyond.

What you will be doing
- Deliver engaging, hands-on Design Technology lessons that inspire creativity, curiosity and participation.
- Support students to develop practical skills through designing, making, evaluating and problem-solving.
- Adapt learning to meet individual needs, strengths and interests.
- Build positive relationships that encourage students to take risks, develop resilience and believe in their abilities.
- Monitor progress, celebrate achievements and support students to reach meaningful goals.
- Contribute to personalised learning plans and work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
What you will bring
We're looking for someone who combines subject expertise with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- QTS or equivalent required
- Experience teaching Design Technology or a related practical subject.
- The creativity and enthusiasm to make learning engaging, relevant and accessible.
- Experience in classroom management and the ability to adapt teaching to SEND individual needs.
- A patient, resilient and solution-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine commitment to supporting students who may have experienced challenges in their educational journey.
About Us
Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Opened in September 2024, the school is located in the beautiful market town of Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. We provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every young person is understood, valued and encouraged to thrive.
Our experienced team creates a calm, structured environment where students build confidence, resilience and achieve positive outcomes through personalised learning, high expectations and strong relationships.
Our curriculum develops the knowledge, emotional resilience, social communication and life skills students need to succeed in education, their communities and beyond, helping every young person become a confident learner, responsible citizen and prepared for their future.
At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
