About the Role
At Crookhey Hall School, we believe the right support can change a young person’s life. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored support to a student, helping them overcome challenges, build confidence and unlock their full potential both in and beyond the classroom.
This is far more than a support role. It is an opportunity to become a trusted mentor, positive role model and consistent presence in a young person’s life, making a lasting impact on their educational journey.
As their key source of support, you’ll develop a meaningful relationship that helps them feel safe, valued and ready to succeed. Through encouragement, patience and understanding, you’ll celebrate every achievement, foster independence and help them develop the confidence and resilience needed to thrive.
From supporting learning and engagement in the classroom to developing social skills, emotional regulation and self-belief, every day will be rewarding and varied. Whether you're taking part in outdoor activities, educational visits or helping a student navigate daily challenges, you'll play a vital role in creating opportunities, inspiring progress and helping one young person build a brighter future.
What you will be doing
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Helping a student access learning and engage positively in education.
- Building a trusting and supportive relationship that promotes confidence and self-esteem.
- Supporting emotional wellbeing, social development and positive behaviour.
- Adapting your approach to meet individual communication and learning needs.
- Encouraging independence, resilience and life skills.
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider school team to deliver personalised support plans.
- Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how small.
- Supporting participation in enrichment activities, outdoor learning and educational visits.
Who We’re Looking For
What matters most is your ability to build meaningful relationships and your passion for helping young people succeed.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- A Full UK Driving Licence.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- The ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people.
- Confidence to remain calm and consistent during challenging situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding.
- A genuine desire to make a lasting difference in a young person's life.
