About the Role

At Red Kite School, creativity is more than a subject. It's a powerful way for our students to express themselves, build confidence and experience success.

We're looking for a passionate and innovative Art & Design Teacher to inspire students through creative, hands-on learning. You'll help young people develop artistic skills, explore their talents and gain the confidence to overcome barriers to learning.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with additional needs, supporting them to achieve outcomes they may never have thought possible. Whether you're an experienced Art Teacher or a creative educator looking for a role with greater purpose and impact, you'll find a supportive environment where your work truly matters.

While Art will be your primary focus, there is also scope to incorporate design, craft, DT and practical creative projects into the curriculum, allowing students to develop a wider range of skills through designing, creating and making. This creates an exciting opportunity for teachers who enjoy delivering varied, hands-on learning experiences and bringing creativity to life in different ways.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver engaging Art lessons that encourage creativity, self-expression and participation.
  • Inspire students through a range of artistic techniques, materials and creative projects.
  • Incorporate design, craft and practical making activities where appropriate to enrich learning experiences.
  • Adapt learning to meet individual needs, abilities and interests.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that support student confidence and engagement.
  • Track progress, celebrate achievements and help students reach meaningful goals.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and specialists to support the best outcomes for students.

What you will bring

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Art or a related creative subject.
  • An interest in design, craft, DT or practical creative projects would be advantageous.
  • A passion for inspiring young people through creative learning.
  • The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse SEND needs.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, resilient and positive approach.
  • A commitment to helping every student achieve their potential.

This role would suit an Art Teacher who enjoys delivering creative, practical learning and wants the flexibility to incorporate wider creative disciplines, helping students discover their strengths and experience success both in and beyond the classroom.
