About the Role

At Red Kite School, we know that creativity can unlock confidence, engagement and achievement in ways that traditional classroom learning sometimes cannot.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and imaginative Art & Design Instructor to deliver inspiring creative learning experiences that help students express themselves, develop new skills and discover their potential. Through art, design and practical projects, you'll give students opportunities to experience success, build self-belief and develop skills that will support them both in school and beyond.

This is much more than delivering lessons. It's about helping young people overcome barriers, engage in learning and take pride in their achievements. Whether your background is in education, art, design, crafts or a creative industry, this role offers the chance to use your skills to make a meaningful difference.

While Art will be the main focus of the role, you'll also have the freedom to introduce elements of design, DT, craft and hands-on creative projects, creating engaging learning experiences that encourage students to explore, create and achieve.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver engaging Art and creative learning sessions that capture students' interest and encourage participation.
  • Support students to develop artistic, practical and creative-thinking skills.
  • Plan and deliver a variety of projects incorporating art, design, craft and making activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships that help students grow in confidence and resilience.
  • Celebrate progress and achievements, supporting students to reach their personal goals.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to support positive outcomes for students.

What you will bring

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent required
  • Experience teaching, instructing or leading Art, creative arts or practical activities.
  • Background in Art, Design, Creative Arts or a related discipline.
  • An interest in creative making, design, craft or practical projects.
  • The ability to engage and motivate students with a range of learning needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed and develop confidence in their abilities.
