Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
Salary: £23,638 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: November 2026

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential? We are looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join our dedicated team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students, families, teachers, and senior leaders to provide targeted pastoral support that enables every student to thrive both academically and personally.
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement in education. You will build positive relationships with students and their families, deliver interventions, provide mentoring, and help create a safe, supportive, and nurturing school environment.
Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team, you will identify students who need additional support and deliver targeted strategies that help them succeed in school and beyond.
What you will be doing
- Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring for students requiring additional support.
- Supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement with learning.
- Assisting students during lessons, breaktimes, and lunchtimes to promote positive behaviour and social development.
- Building strong relationships with parents/carers and acting as a key point of contact.
- Working with teachers, support staff, curriculum leaders, and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate support.
- Delivering pastoral interventions and contributing to support plans for individual students.
- Monitoring and implementing rewards, behaviour strategies, and targeted interventions.
- Attending review meetings and contributing to discussions around student progress and welfare.
- Providing guidance and signposting families to relevant support services where appropriate.
- Supporting safeguarding practices and promoting the welfare of all students.
What will you be doing
- Maths and English GCSE C or above equivalent required.
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to support students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Deliver targeted pastoral interventions and contribute to individual support plans.
- Support students during lessons, breaktimes, and lunchtimes, promoting positive behaviour and participation.
- Build effective relationships with parents/carers, providing updates, guidance, and signposting to support services.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, senior leaders, and external agencies to meet students' needs.
- Monitor and implement rewards, behaviour strategies, and interventions to help students succeed.
- Attend review meetings and contribute to safeguarding, welfare, and student progress discussions.

Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
