Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - SEND and Inclusion
Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.00am - 4.00pm
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

About the Role
Red Kite School is looking for an ambitious and inspirational Assistant Headteacher - SEND & Inclusion to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued development of our growing specialist school, helping to drive outstanding inclusive practice and ensure every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.
Working closely with the Headteacher, you'll combine strategic leadership with a 70% teaching commitment, allowing you to remain connected to the classroom while influencing whole-school improvement. You'll champion SEND provision, inclusion, student outcomes and staff development, helping to create a culture where every young person feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

Your Leadership Impact
- Work alongside the Headteacher to provide strategic and operational leadership across the school.
- Lead and develop the school's SEND and Inclusion strategy, ensuring every student receives high-quality, personalised support.
- Maintain a 70% teaching commitment, modelling outstanding classroom practice and high expectations.
- Drive high standards of teaching, learning and achievement for students with additional needs.
- Oversee the implementation, monitoring and review of EHCP provision and inclusive support strategies.
- Monitor student progress and SEND data, identifying trends and implementing interventions to improve outcomes.
- Lead school improvement initiatives focused on inclusion, accessibility and student achievement.
- Coach, mentor and develop colleagues, building confidence and expertise in inclusive practice.
- Champion safeguarding, wellbeing, equality and positive relationships across the school community.
- Build strong partnerships with families, local authorities and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for students.
What will you will bring
- QTS or PGCE and a relevant degree required.
- Leadership experience within a school or specialist education setting.
- Strong knowledge of SEND, inclusion, curriculum development and school improvement.
- Experience supporting students with additional needs and implementing effective interventions.
- Understanding of EHCP processes and multi-agency working.
- The ability to inspire, develop and motivate staff.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping every student succeed.
- NPQSL or equivalent leadership qualification desirable.

Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
