About the Role
At Mountfield Heath School, we're looking for a passionate and caring Teaching Assistant to join our exceptional team and help transform the lives of young people with additional and complex needs.
This isn't just a classroom support role. It's an opportunity to be a mentor, motivator and positive role model for students who need encouragement, consistency and belief in their potential.
You'll support students both academically and emotionally, helping them overcome barriers to learning, celebrate successes and develop the confidence to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Whether you're supporting learning in the classroom, taking part in enrichment activities, or helping a student navigate a challenging moment, your influence will have a lasting impact.
No two days are the same, but every day is rewarding.
Working alongside teachers, therapists and specialist staff, you'll be part of a nurturing and ambitious school community where every achievement is celebrated and every student is encouraged to thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting students in lessons on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Building positive relationships that help students feel safe, valued and supported
- Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence in learning
- Supporting students' emotional wellbeing, communication and social development
- Working with teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences
- Helping students overcome challenges and celebrate their progress
- Taking part in practical, creative and outdoor learning activities
- Contributing to a positive, calm and inclusive school environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to support student success
What We’re Looking For
We're interested in hearing from people who are:
-
GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) required
- Passionate about making a difference to young people's lives
- Patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure
- Positive, energetic and enthusiastic about supporting learning
- Naturally able to build strong relationships and earn trust
- A team player who enjoys working collaboratively
- Adaptable and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life
- Looking for a rewarding career where no two days are the same
Previous experience working in education is helpful but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, support work, coaching, childcare, mental health support, customer service, or anyone with the right values and motivation to support young people.
