About the Role
Help Young People Build Confidence, Overcome Barriers and Discover What They Can Achieve.
At Mountfield Heath School, we’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team and make a positive difference to students with additional and complex needs.
This is much more than helping in the classroom. You’ll build trusted relationships with students, support them through challenges and encourage them to develop the confidence, independence and skills they need to succeed.
One day you might be providing individual support during a lesson, the next getting involved in practical activities, outdoor learning or helping a student manage a difficult moment. Every day brings something different, but each one offers the opportunity to see the impact your support can have.
Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and other professionals, you’ll be part of a team that celebrates progress in all its forms and creates an environment where students feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping students engage with learning and work towards their individual goals
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued and confident
- Work alongside teachers to deliver creative, engaging and personalised learning activities
- Support students’ emotional, social and physical development using patient and positive approaches
- Encourage greater confidence, independence, communication and resilience
- Get involved in classroom learning, practical activities and outdoor learning experiences
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider team to provide consistent support around each student
- Help create a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment where every achievement is recognised
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Caring, patient and passionate about helping young people succeed
- Positive and resilient, with the ability to remain calm when situations become challenging
- Flexible and happy to get involved in both indoor and outdoor learning
- Able to build strong and positive relationships with students
- A supportive team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others
- Enthusiastic about helping students develop their confidence and independence
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) are required.
