Job Title: Facilities Assistant
Location: Hillingdon Manor School, Uxbridge, UB8 3HD
Salary: £28,500 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | 52 weeks
Start: October 2026

About the Role
As a Facilities Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day upkeep of our buildings, equipment, grounds, and plant machinery. You'll work both independently and alongside the wider maintenance team to carry out planned maintenance, repairs, refurbishment projects, and health and safety checks.
You'll also take ownership of a specialist trade area, such as plumbing, carpentry, joinery, decorating, or painting, bringing your skills and expertise to help maintain our facilities to the highest standard.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment work across the site.
- Taking responsibility for a specialist trade area, such as plumbing, carpentry, joinery, or decorating.
- Conducting regular health and safety inspections and reporting any hazards or defects.
- Supporting the upkeep of buildings, grounds, plant machinery, and equipment.
- Liaising with contractors and suppliers where specialist works are required.
- Assisting with fire safety checks, emergency procedures, and site security.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and maintenance records.
- Responding to urgent maintenance issues and supporting on-call requirements when needed.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a safe and professional environment for all.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in general maintenance, ideally with skills in a trade such as plumbing, carpentry, joinery, or decorating.
- Understands and follows health and safety best practices.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Is organised, reliable, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Has strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Is flexible, responsive, and committed to maintaining high standards.

Knowledge of COSHH regulations and basic IT skills are desirable.
- Driving licence required

Hillingdon Manor School is an independent specialist school for autistic pupils aged 11 to 19, with a capacity of 170 pupils across two sites in Hillingdon.
